Austin, Texas!!
We left California after the New Year and made the three day trek to Texas. Although the weather deteriorated as we moved east we managed to stay ahead of a major cold front.
We arrived in Austin on a Sunday. The cold front arrived Monday.
We decided to explore our new home.
Austin folk don't like to drive in ice much, so we pretty much had the roads to ourselves.
Local sites not usually so frosty.
Everyone seemed to be enjoying the weather,
Except for the geek in this car, who seemed to think he needed to protect these college age guys from themselves. He wanted them to get out of the water because the spring was closed. After people told him to mind his own beeswax and let the kids have their fun, he called the police. Whatever!
Dude, if you want to be everyone's nanny, move to California and become a politician.
The rest of the month was pretty much spent trying to find a house and finding some fellow homeschoolers. We decided to rent for a while so we could get to know the neighborhoods instead of buying blindly. We searched long and hard but finally found a little house with a garage and room for the bus within walking distance of downtown!
