March 2005

Our first outing in the bus was in late March for Maddie's 13th Birthday.  We were all seriously ready for some fun but didn't want to go too far since this would be our first time out and about. We still had some stuff to work on and were still renting a house in Campbell.

We found a park in Pescadero through our Coast to Coast membership.  It was across from the beach and had access to several trails.  Jim's Mom and little sis wanted to join us so they rented a tent cabin in the same resort.  Yes, I said resort.  Much to my surprise this place (Costanoa) had a spa, a lodge, resort cabins and really nice tent cabins.  Even the pads for tents had electricity and water!  They didn't even have bathrooms, they had comfort stations each complete with outdoor patio furniture and fireplaces that the staff lit each night!  Since we were planning on being there five nights, I was a little concerned about the price, the web site listed the RV spots at $65 per night so I was seriously tripping out on the fact we only paid $14 per night through Coast to Coast.

So it was here with family and friends we celebrated Maddie's entry into teenhood!

No more childish behavior...when you're a teen you have to be cool, you have to be constantly aware of how you look, you can't ever let yourself be perceived as a dork or goofy.......

NOT!!!!!!

HMMM....I wonder where she gets it?

Could it be her Dad?

maybe...

her little brother.......

or perhaps it's the company she keeps?

Either way we were having a great time planned to spend the day at the beach on Maddie's big day, it had been a long time since we'd been to the beach we were happy

Our friend Max came along

so did Jim's mom

but you know what they say, "It's all fun and games until.....

someone loses a toenail.

Yes, it's sad but true, Matthew was trying to show Autumn (Jim's Sister) a secret cove he found when suddenly a vicious rock attacked her foot and ripped off her big toenail!!  It was really gross and covered in sand.  Sherry (Jim's mom) and I drove her to the urgent care to get it cleaned.  I had done the same thing about a year before and I knew how much pain she was in so we made cracked jokes during the 30 minute ride to the doctor.  Sherry didn't appreciate the joking and said we were making her nauseous so she didn't come into the doctors office....too bad...doc was HOT!

The doctor asked how it happened and Autumn being the good truthful girl that she is told him that she stepped on a rock.  The Hot Doc agreed with me that she really needed a better story...maybe fighting off sharks to save Matthew.

Three hours later we were back and went out for a great dinner...it was all good.
